Why does the XBox 360 Elite use a different power brick?

Does the elite have different internals than the Pro/Premium or arcade? From what I understood, all xbox 360s were built on the same base, meaning any arcade/pro/premium can be changed into an Elite. But what I don’t understand is why the Elite has a different power brick…? Anyone know?
I want to know what needs more power. Is it the chipset? Hard drive? What exactly is the reason for the power difference?

It depends on the chipset. I have the RE4 Limited Edition 360, and I know it has the Jasper chip, and it uses a 150 W power brick. I also have a launch 360 which has the Zephyr chipset, and it has a 203 power brick.

So the Zephyr uses 203 W power price. The Falcon uses the 175 W. The Jasper uses the 150 W.

The Elites can actually use the same power brick as the other consoles, depending on when it was manufactured.

It’s not the model (Core, Premium, Arcade, Pro, Elite) that makes the difference. It’s the chipset inside that does.

The early Xenon and Zephyr models needed the most power so used 203W power supplies. The next gen Opus and Falcon chips were more efficient so only need 175W power supplies. The latest Jaspers only need 150W. The next chipset will probably be smaller again.

As an example, I had a first-run Elite that used the 203W power supply. It E74ed on me and was replaced with a Falcon that needs 175W. The ones in the store right now are Jaspers.

Who told you the power brick is different? If I had to guess, you are probably looking at consoles that were made at different times and have different chip sets. The newer 360s use less power and therefore have different bricks.

The internals of all 360s made at the same time are identical (except for the built-in memory of the newest Arcades).
