I have just a regular XBox (not a 360) and have been watching movies on it. Some movies just play, but some go to the menu screen. It did this with one movie and I just pushed random buttons and got it to play, but I would like to know how to make it play. I don’t have the remote that goes with the DVD player set, all I have is the XBox controller. Can anyone help me??

i had that problem myself with my old xbox (i now have a 360)
i had to buy this little add on that plugged in where the controllers did
then it played any DVD i could throw at it (not literally throw)
you can probably buy one of amazon/eBay dirt cheap now

You need to have the remote, or if your lucky some movies may just start if you leave it on the menu, but other than that you must have the remote to watch anything on the original Xbox.
just put the dvd in your x-box and it will automatically play it or it will ask you to play it.
