I’ve connected my 360 to a tv with the hdmi and the TV says mode not supported. I’m guessing I need to mess with the display settings, but I can’t see anything.

reconnect your AV cables and set it to HDMI, you should be able to see it that way, then just connect your hdmi after that
The solution to this problem is to blindly navigate into the Display settings to change the display to something other than 1080p without any sort of visual or audio cue. Very annoying, but doable.
Here’s a step by step guide:
1. Connect your 360 to your TV with the included composite cable.
2. Set up your 360 to make sure that you are running the new Xbox dashboard (the one with Avatars support).
3. Ensure that there is no profile that will auto-sign in when you boot up.
4. Power off and connect the HDMI cables. Boot up the 360 and wait for about 20 seconds.
5. Hit right on your left analog stick 9 times, to navigate to the System Settings menu.
6. Hit A 4 times to go through the System Settings menu, Console Settings menu, Display menu, into the HDTV settings menu.
7. Hit up on your left analog stick up twice, and then hit A. If no picture appears, wait about 10 seconds. Then hit up on the analog stick again and hit A. What you are doing is trying to pick one of the Display settings other than 1080p.
8. If your picture shows up, you’re good to go. Set your Display settings to either 720p or 1080i and the 360 will remember them from now on.
9. If the picture still fails to set up, try restarting the machine and repeating steps 1-8 again.
Troubleshooting
Try switching back to the composite cable, turning on the 360, and doing steps 1-8 above to see if you are doing it correctly. If your profile is logged in, the 360 will start you on the “Welcome” tab, rather than the “Play Disc” tab, which will not allow you to get to the System Menu without hitting up once first before the 9 rights.
thanks it worked, but its 8 spaces over , A three time, up A its the quickest way Thanks again
Or hold y and and right trigger (rt) at the same time to master rest, first turn off the xbox then turn it on with the remote then the steps when the xbox logo show again its resting. This is easy too.
That was awesome advice! Thanks a million, Marcus!
Thanks! It worked
