I’ve been researching this issue all over the web, but haven’t found the answer. I must fail at googling, as ripping CDs to the hard drive is probably a common thing people do.

I’ve been researching this issue all over the web, but haven’t found the answer. I must fail at googling, as ripping CDs to the hard drive is probably a common thing people do. First, I burned an audio CD through iTunes. Didn’t work. Then burned an MP3 CD through iTunes. Didn’t work. Next burned a CD through Windows Media Player. Didn’t work.

I am having the exact same problem. It may have something to do with the fact that it is a 4 GB, and may need a hard drive, although I am not 100% positive.

I try to click the “rip” button but it is faded out as if it’s N/A. This is bullshit, I can’t figure out how to fix this problem either, and the only people who are commenting on this are people who are having this issue…. We need to consult with an xbox professional…

you have to buy a HDD cause it the internal memory is flash memory wich only lets you download demos, saved games from xbox live it won’t allow you to install games or rip games you need to buy a HDD

    Ok, got the answer.
The core new black xbox system with 4 gigs of memory has had the ability to rip disabled to encourage people to buy the more expensive, larger drive models. I have a 1 terabyte hard drive attached to my Xbox with a usb hookup and can actually store more memory than any Xbox available, as well as most Microsoft computers and products…. You’re only option is to buy the Xbox external hard drive THAT IS COMPATABLE WITH THE NEW XBOX. That’s important! It’s this one here:

Don’t try to be clever like me, there’s some kind of proprietary code in it that lets the Xbox know you’re using a $130 OFFICIAL Xbox 360 320GB hard drive instead of an $80 1 Terabyte external drive. Also, no the cheaper drive compatable with the original Xbox 360 WILL NOT WORK.
Also, if you’re considered a “computer guy” like me, don’t try to find the code in the official drive and copy it to try and upgrade to a 1TB drive or bigger. Microsoft will likely consider that a modified Xbox and lock you out of Live.
Sorry kids. You wanna get a functional memory for your $400 system? Get the credit card, grit your teeth, and bend over.
    It’s hard being a gamer sometimes…. :-(
