Can you have 2 things(xbox and pc audio) playing at the same time through a home theater receiver?

I want to play audio from my Xbox 360 and music from my pc at the same time through a home theater receiver. Can I do this?
The home theater receiver I would be using would be a Yamaha RX-V365 5.1-Channel Digital Home Theater Receiver.
I would also be using a HDMI cable from the computer to the receiver and component audio cables from the Xbox to the receiver.

At the same time? You could possibly play the sound from the Xbox in stereomix through your front speakers, and music in the back speakers.

You can run what ever you like. If you where to use optical for these two products they would clash, And not work together. In order to run the Audio from two different things into an amplifier you would need a Manual Optical splitter.

You can do it, what you would have to do is change the audio input on your receiver. Take the audio from the pc and feed it into the audio where the Xbox would go……that would be the cheap and easy solution. If you want to do it as a permanent solution you will have to get some type of audio mixer.

  5. TV guy says:

To use both at the same time (not simply connect them and use one or the other) It assumes the receiver can “mix” audio inputs; most receivers simply process one input at a time. So, if your receiver has a “mix” feature, you can do it.
